The Owners

Don Ackermann was born and raised in Mariemont, Ohio.  He began working for his family’s business, Ackermann’s Parkview Super Market at the corner of Bramble and Whetzel, as a stock boy and clean up person in 1955.  Don’s passion for the meat business was handed to him by his father, who was a meat cutter for Kroger’s in the 1930’s and 1940’s.  Don married Jean Parker in 1965 and she joined the business in 1983.

 As an independent business, Lehr’s has been very active in the support of many community projects and events.  As part of its 1977 expansion program, Lehr’s initiated a consumer education program with aim for a better balanced diet for the whole family.  Also, Lehr’s was the benefactor of the Milford Pee Wee Football program for 12 years and also for the Calumetts Drill Team.  They also sponsored baseball, basketball, semi-pro football and bowling teams.  Lehr’s is currently, and has been for the past 15 years, the business partner for Pattison and Seipelt Elementary Schools.

 As owners, Don and Jean remain active in the community.  Don is the past President of the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce, past President and officer of the Milford Area Jaycees, District Vice President of the Ohio Jaycees, a J.C.I.(Jaycee International Senate) Senator, as well as a past officer in the Greater Milford Athletic Association.  Don currently serves as Trustee for the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as serving on the Community Development Revitalization Task Force.

 Jean is a past officer of the Milford High School Athletic Boosters, a member of  Milford South PTO, Milford Area Jaycettes, and the American Business Women’s Association.  She has served on the Milford Beautification Committee, was co-chair of the Teddy Bear Walk for Cancer, and was chairperson for the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Craft Show.  She currently serves as the first women President of the Milford/Miami Township Chamber of Commerce and President of Historic Milford Association.

 Don and Jean have three children.  Their oldest son Doug, who graduated from Milford and the College of Wooster, joined the family business in 1984.  His wife Lori, who graduated from Milford and Northern Kentucky University, came to Lehr’s while in college in 1991.  Besides working at Lehr’s, she is a Licensed Massage Therapist and an instructor at the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage.  They have one son, Payne.

 Their only daughter Kris, graduated from Milford and Ohio Northern University, works for New Creative Enterprises.  Her husband Steve, who graduated from Hamilton High School and Miami University, works for the United States Investigative Services.  They have two children, Ryan and Tara.

 Their youngest son Tim, graduated from Milford and the University of Dayton, was the Principal for Hilltop Elementary in Reading.  He is now the Assistant Supertendent of Milfrord Schols. His wife Kate, graduated from Brockport High School and Ithaca College in New York, is a teacher at Milford High School.  They have tn three children, twins Jack and Reilly and Max.
